HARRY:
I
just bought the Toronto Film Festival DVD that shows a clip of
Harry. I am becoming an official freak. I am starting to
collect
the dumbest stuff.
Anyway,.......it's
amazing. He looks a little gruff.....but TASTY!
I
am going to start planning my trip for Mardi Gras
2001. I met a few people there this year that make it a yearly
event. I am hoping to get an "IN" with Orpheuscapade this
coming year, as well. I was lucky enough to meet someone who's
family sponsors a float in the
parade. However, the meeting was a somewhat convoluted one and it
may take some finagling on my part to actually get someone to lend an ear
to my plight......We'll see. Any
ideas?
Jazz Festival was a huge success. Harry even "gave away" some tickets to Habitat for Humanity. Habitat auctioned the tickets off, and in addition to the concert tickets, you got invited to a pre-concert party with Harry.
Well,
we all know I couldn't go to the concert, but I might have quit my job if
I thought I w
ould
actually get to meet him.....I'd be close enough to SMELL him!
Wow. Maybe next year.
Now,
don't anyone get worried. I have limited myself to loving from
afar. We all know Harry's married.
TECHIE JUNK:
They've
started selling Visors in local
retail stores. Wow!
They've
come a long way in a short period of time. I have even talked my
boss into purchasing one for his wife. Have you ever tried to synch Palm
OS with Groupwise?
Not an easy task. Why does everything have to revolve around
Microsoft? Well,....IT SHOULDN'T!
You know, with
everyone interested in tech stocks these days I would say that this
company would be a GREAT ONE to get in with on the IPO. AND,.....I
rumor is that a WOMAN is in charge! Go get 'em!

I recently
got back from New York City!
How fun! I took tons of pictures, and
Dan made fun of me that I looked such the tourist. DUH. I was.
I am going to be posting the pictures here.
A few weeks
before I made my trek to New York 
City, my friend, Dan, came to visit
Iowa. He is planning on attending Iowa State University in the fall,
and wanted to check the place out. Boy was he surprised!
I don't know if everyone knows, but I started a new job two months ago with a civil engineering consultant firm in Des Moines. My job is amazing, and I haven't ever worked with such wonderful people. It has turned out to be the opportunity of a life-time! The two men that I work for, Perry & Eric, are so much more than anyone deserves in a boss. They're great!
LEXI:
Lexi
has had a sad
development. Apparantly a few months ago (we're not really sure) she
broke her leg. Unfortunately for her, she's a real champ and
didn't give any indication of being injured. She just kept walking,
running and jumping on her broken leg.
In the mean time, the leg began healing; a little incorrectly at that. Sadly, by the time we noticed that something was amiss, it was too late. Now, don't worry, Lexi is fine. However, she will have a permanent disfigurement in her right leg. It doesn't seem to bother her, but we worry about her alot.
The vet said that we could operate to fix the problem, but the surgery would cost upwards of $2000, and an osteopathic surgeon would be needed. We have a great vet school here in Iowa, but I think we're going to take the wait-and-see approach to the problem. Say a prayer for her, and we'll keep on hoping that everything turns out for the best.

funny. You know I bought Katie her own domain name for her
birthday. Well, I went a little crazy. This months Linux
Journal had a blurb about great domain names that haven't been
taken. So,.....we got http://www.linuxgoddess.com
I can't believe someone didn't snag this already!
Okay, okay, I know I'm not a linux goddess, but someday I may be. And in the mean time I wouldn't want someone stealing my fame and fortune....
Oh, guess what? I got some hate mail because of it! Someone in Hawaii spammed my guestbook, and left an irritated message regarding linuxchics.com. How funny, huh? Apparently she wants this domain. And she doesn't appreciate some "yuppy" stealing it.
