ONLY 33 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE FOR MARDI GRAS!

KATIE:

I have posted a page of new pictures of Katie.  The formatting and indexing will take a while.  thumbnail.jpg (16737 bytes)I just wanted Grandma to have something to show everyone.  There are also a couple of new listings in the PhotoAlbum to check out as well!

Katie has really taken a liking to the computer, and Santa is looking into a little 486 for her for Christmas (she has been pretty good this year).  In her surfing, Katie has found a great site full of downloadable software for little kids.   They have all kinds of stuff, like "key bangers", that pull a full-screen and make it safe for your kids to bang away at the keys.  They also add little pictures and sounds to make the kids think they're really doing something!  Katie loves it.

And while we're at it, let's not forget the great & wonderful ToysRUs!  Have fun, everyone!  It's like being a kid again!

HARRY:

Don't miss Harry's christmas special December 6th, at 9pm on ABC.   And let's also remember that he will be performing at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas for New Year's Eve.   Unfortunately, it has been announced that tickets can't even be purchased.  You have to spend at least four hours a day in the casino, with a minimum bet of $250 per hand.  Umm,....I don't   think I'll be meeting these qualifications.

Harry will also be performing at the Walt Disney Parade on Christmas.  It will be aired on CBS at 8pm.  Since Christmas is our favorite time of year, anyway, we will be very excited to see this!  If you don't already have it, Harry's Christmas CD, When My Heart Finds Christmas, is one of the best.

TECHBITS:

My Visor has finally arrived!  I am very pleased to say that it does everything I thought and more.  visor.jpg (15960 bytes)One quite strange topic that has come to my attention, however, is Kama Sutra?  Has anyone heard of this?  Well, there is a "Pocket Sutra" for the Palm OS.  Not being aware of what it was, I downloaded it.  WOW!  Bit of a surprise, as you might guess......

Anyway, my visor has been coming in handy this week, and I'm having no kind of buyer's remorse.  I'll give a more thorough review after I've had some time to play around with it.  As of right now, though.....

LINUX:                                       Linux Resources

T
his is by far one of the most ludicrous pieces of writing I have ever seen.   Totally worth seeing.  How dillusional do Microsoft employees have to be to take this crap seriously?

My prediction of Bill Gates wanting to take over the universe has been adopted by the Government.   If you haven't heard, Judge Jackson ruled against Microsoft and declared them to be in violation of US Antitrust Laws.   Now, they just need to decide on a course of action.

Which brings me to why this is under the heading of Linux.  I think that Microsoft should be forced to open up their source code for other software developers.  Something akin to the Linux development process.  We'll see.  Some say this wouldn't help;  It would just fuel those of us that believe we need to start completely from scratch and develop an OPERATING SYSTEM THAT WORKS!  ...Oh wait, that would be LINUX!

HAVE AN OPINION? TELL US ABOUT IT!

TEXAS:

Smithville's Festival of Lights is coming up this Saturday.  If anyone wants to attend.  It would be fun, but I won't be able to make it.   Smithville, Texas, only has about 5000 people that live there, but it sure is cute.  ....  And, it's a mere SIX HOUR drive to New Orleans....

MOM:

I have passed my second exam, and am officially a Certified Netware Administrator (CNA)!  Ya.

I am studying for my third exam, and will be taking my fourth class December 6th through the 8th at Help Desk.   I will be a Certified Netware Engineer (CNE) by March, if I can pass all six exams.  Wish me luck!

Has anyone heard of Google?   It's an amazing search engine.  I stumbled onto it last week, and was pretty impressed with what I saw.  Just thought I'd share!  Let me know what you think of it.

Speaking of Foo,...  I talked to him on bunnyfoo.jpg (23397 bytes)the phone a couple of days ago.  He is spending some time at his mother's house, recuperating from surgery.  He says he is sore, but well.   Thanks to everyone for their prayers.  Foo will be back in the saddle by mid-December, just in time for the Christmas party.   We miss you, FOO!   Please hurry back.  We'll see you in a couple of weeks.

calec 4.jpg (54970 bytes)This is my friend, Brian Calec.  Ever seen him before?  He's in the band 35" Mudder.  I saw him a while back, and got the low down on what the band has been up to.  But, I didn't get his phone number!  If anyone sees him, tell him to call me.  Anyway, in the mean time, visit their site and request their music at Laser.  Way to go, Brian.  Everyone that knew you when you were a big Physics nerd is SOOOOOOOooooo proud of you.  Congratulations on all of your success.

MARDI GRAS:
W
e made our reservations for  our  Mardi Gras 2000 trip.  We will be going March 4th through the 10th, and staying at the Hotel Monteleone.   Pretty snazzy, huh?  If anyone needs to get ahold of us while we're there, I'll still be getting my email, and you can always CALL US!  We'd love to hear from our friends.  I am also hoping to have access to a laptop to be able to download some of the photos during our week long stay.  I want you guys to be able to be a part of the fun.....

Our tickets for Orpheuscapade will be here in January.  I'm interested to see what they look like.  They say that they're collectors items and people usually have them framed.  I'll post an image when it finally shows!  And, on a sad note, I see that Harry's European tour is Janury through March.  However, there is a block of days (3/6 to 3/11) that there are no concerts scheduled.  I am hoping (of course) that this means he will be attending Lundi Gras.  I will be saying a selfish prayer to make it so.

And remember, it's never too late to tag along.  The more people that go, the less $$$$$ it will cost us!  Anyone interested, let me know.

LEXI:

Lexi is doing well.  She is eleven  weeks old now.  She's turned out to be pretty smart.  She is learning to roll over on command!  Way to go DAD!  My dad is helping me train her, now.

If you have pets, I recommend buying your pet supplies online.  Have you seen PetSmart.com?   PetSmart has great deals on Science Diet food;  Buy 1, Get 1 Free.  And their prices are better than any around here.  Having it delivered to your door is always nice, too.  You can schedule automatic deliveries periodically, if you're bad about remembering to buy your best friend food.  They also have neat little novelties,....one of my favorites being the puppy binaca.  Lexi sometimes has a problem with fresh breath.

This search engine will find just about ANY MP3, if it's out there.
